Lunch was then served. Subsequently the kids were transported home safely.
Project Accompany Me
Unaccompanied minors are children who have been separated from their parents through the process of fleeing persecution in their home country. This is a group that is particularly vulnerable and they are often forced to fend for themselves by engaging in the informal labour market. Whilst the project aims to target the 13-17 age bracket, outliers will be considered on a case to case basis. Many asylum seekers wish to learn English as they want to communicate better in Malaysia & in their future country of resettlement. This will enable them to understand the current affairs of the country of asylum & open windows of opportunity to progress in life. The current cycle will run from mid-November to late February & will include weekly lessons for Kachin unaccompanied minors. The project has received a $400 grant from the US Mission & $900 contribution from local contributors.
